Stories breathe within us from childhood onward; sacred narratives carried on the winds and crosswinds, volcanic eruptions, and sweet breezes of our lived experiences—not those we admire or are momentarily hyper fascinated with, but those mythic narratives belonging one of a kind to each person in an utterly unique way…etched into the leaves of our soul’s precious Book of Life/Death/Life.
The pages are woven from the materials of our journeys, our loves, our loses, our agonistas and the subtle connection, sometimes comedic, sometimes profound, that unite all the stories within us via mythic themes. We gather these precious self-lived stories, mined for raw truths and tender ways, from our adventures meant or accidental, from the troughs and peaks of relationships, and the uncharted territories where life’s currents have carried us, and are carrying us now…
In this transformative training, Story As Medicine™, Dr. Clarissa Pinkols Estés Réyes will guide you on a meaningful pilgrimage to the heartland of your being, where many of your stories slumber and some of your secrets still may reside. Here, in the hushed sanctuary of your inner world, second world, you will armor up and meet with monsters—those shadowy figures born of fear and often misunderstanding— and learn to embrace or re-embrace the radiant presence of your angels, bringing them forth into true service again.
Within the safe and sacred circle created for this journey, through the gentle currents of trance, and intimate exchange in dyads, and potent tools of deep inquiry, you will work along side Dr. Estés and fellow travelers to unearth truths that still lie hidden within your own true self. You will learn to step outside there well-worn paths of your old narratives, gaining a transformative understanding of your essential self, the vibrant core that beats beneath the surface of your stories.
With compassionate guidance and what some have remarked as her uncanny ability to weave the magic of story as medicine, she will help you transcend any grips of fear and darkness , leading you towards your luminous true home. You will come to see , often with startling clarity, that the monsters were not born of you, were not real in the way fear makes them seem.
Dr. Estés ignites the courage within you to explore much, including, as you wish, the lingering wounds of childhood, and other echoes of the past that have shaped and colored your strories—the triumphs, the meaningless and meaningful. Drawing upon the rich tapestry of mythos and ancient healing narratives, she will illuminate paths toward wholeness.
